Kuroshitsuji is a Treat

I’ve been watching batches of episodes of the Kuroshitsuji anime these past few days, and every time an episode finishes, I have to stop myself from going into the kitchen to attempt to make one of the many delicious treats that Sebastian makes for Ciel.

I don’t get why they do have the beauty shots of the tea cakes that Sebastian makes? Is this also something that they do in the manga?

It’s not entirely surprising that I’m enjoying this series. Where the ero-game adaptations have the doe-eyed cute girls as pull for its audience, Kuroshitsuji brings the butlers, with some Victorian-flavored costuming in there as well. Where Emma attempted to show a grittier worldview of London (from the imagination of its Japanese creator), Kuroshitsuji is unapologetic in the mish-mash of the fantasy and romance of this time period. It’s not really an anime that you can (or should) take seriously; it seems that the creators of this anime are pretty aware that while the series may have elements of the dark and the gothic, that in the end, it’s a series that’s primarily pretty.

And there’s nothing wrong with that.

Though, talk to me later in the summer after I’ve seen dozens of poorly executed Grell and/or Madam Red cosplayers and maybe I’ll have a different viewpoint of this series by then…

Yes, those scenes appear quite frequently. The anime strays from the manga a lot of but those scenes are some of the few things that they do stick with.
You’d be surprise at how many good Kuroshitsuji cosplayers there are (on Deviant Art any ways)
