Background: MARS is a fifteen-volume shoujo manga series by SORYO Fuyumi. It's the story of a teenage couple, KASHINO Rei and ASO Kira, who meet and fall in love despite their own individual dark pasts. I discovered the English translated manga, published by TOKYOPOP, in early 2002, and I've been hooked since. I've actually even bought the original Japanese tankubon volumes just to know what'll happen next.

BTW, the name of the site just happens to be a combination of the two main characters of the manga: Kira and Rei -- coincidentally, in Japanese, the word kirei means "pretty" or "beautiful." How apt.
