ARISUGAWA SORATA
One of the first people Syaoran, Fai, and Kurogane meet after they leave Yuko's shop. A young professor of history in the Republic of Hanshin, whose area of interest is the kudan, he provides Syaoran and the others explanations on the country and its traditions. Married to Arashi.ALTERNATE:

ARISUGAWA ARASHI
A manager and cook of a guest house which she owns with her husband, Sorata. Formerly a sorceress, but she retired when she married. ALTERNATE: Reprises role as one of the Ten no Ryuu in Tokyo (allied with Fuuma) NAME: The kanji for her name means "storm." CROSSOVER: One of the Dragons of Heaven in X.CULTURAL NOTE: COMEDY DUO
As befitting a couple living in Kansai (the area of Japan that Hanshin is based on), Sorata and Arashi's relationship draws upon the comedy tradition of the "boke" and "tsukkomi." Sorata plays the role of "boke," the one who makes the silly mistakes and say stupid things, whereas Arashi is the "tsukkomi," catching his errors and occassionally doling out punishment in the form of a smack to the head.
