EPISODE 33: Ashura no Iware | Ashura's History

Synopsis: Syaoran and Sakura are separated from Fai and Kurogane in Shara, where they are caught between two feuding clans. The Jinja believe that the Suzuran troupe and their guardian god Ashura, are bringing misfortune and death to the country when they return to their base.

Highlights:

This episode corresponds with the events of Chapitre 53 to the middle of Chapitre 58

The first earthquake that coincided with the tears of the Yasha statue (from Chapitre 56) was eliminated.

Scenes and references to alcohol were also removed (ie. Suzuran reminiscing about Sakura's "nyan-nyan" antics when she's drunk; Kurogane and Fai drinking at the shrine compound) -- I guess even the Japanese have to draw the line somewhere...

The late-night rendezvous between Souseki and Suzuran (below) is original to the anime. In the manga, Suzuran's feelings are merely hinted upon -- she refers to an unknown "him".

Sakura is shown to have had some influence (above) in the time-space disturbance of the Ashura and Yasha statues, a scene which did not appear in the manga.
