EPISODE 40: Kuroki Hagane | Black Steel

Synopsis: Kurogane's childhood in Suwa Province is revealed to Syaoran through the book. Kurogane's mother is a miko entrusted with the task of keeping a barrier (kekkai) around their province to protect the land from demons. His father, the lord of Suwa, frequently leaves in order to hunt and slay these demons. Even as a young boy, Kurogane knows that he must become strong in order to protect the ones he loves... before it is too late.

Highlights:

This episode corresponds with the events of Chapitre 92 to Chapitre 98, with a few scenes left out.

As in the manga, it shows that Kurogane learned his trademark move, Hama Ryuuou Jin, from his father

For the anime only, Kurogane's childhood name is Haganemaru.

Another scene original to the anime is when Kurogane bathes with his mother as a young boy and asks her if he liked him or his father better. Oedipus complex anybody?
